“We came in with an idea for a trainer marketplace and no technical team. They designed it, built it for both app stores, and it's still running years later.”
The build
The problem
Independent trainers were running real businesses out of Instagram DMs, spreadsheets and cash apps — no storefront, no scheduling, no way for new clients to find and compare them. Clients, meanwhile, had no accountable way to buy training and stick with it.
A fitness marketplace with two very different jobs
One app serves two audiences. Clients get an e-commerce experience: search trainers, exercises and challenges, compare packages, book and pay in-app. Trainers get a business cockpit: an offerings carousel for their Packages, Plans and Challenges, a client roster with medical intake and meal and weight logs, attendance check-off, and a weekly earnings chart with projected totals.
Gamified accountability with real stakes
Paid challenges are the signature mechanic — entry fees, prize pools, live countdowns and participant stacks. "Lose It or Lose It: $250 prize, $15 entry, 28 participants" is a retention engine and a revenue stream in one card.
The stack and the look
A single Flutter codebase ships to iOS and Android. Firebase coordinates bookings between both sides, Algolia powers typo-tolerant discovery across three search verticals, and Stripe handles payments and payouts. A gym-native dark UI — near-black surfaces, heavy-overlay photography, one electric lime accent that always points at money and action.
